The Millionaires' Unit: How the Navy Learned to Fly in World War I

Featuring Marc Wortman

Join author and award-winning writer Marc Wortman at the 2014 George W. Jalonick III and Dorothy Cockrell Jalonick Memorial Distinguished Lecture. Wortman will share the long forgotten World War I story of a collegiate flying club comprised of sons from some of America's wealthiest and most prominent families. The aviators formed the founding squadron of the Navy Reserve and became the nucleus of the Navy's air service during the war, with survivors later leading the rise of U.S. air power.

Author of The Millionaires' Unit: The Aristocratic Flyboys Who Fought the Great War and Invented American Air Power and The Bonfire: The Siege and Burning of Atlanta, Wortman and his work have appeared in numerous national magazines.
